Invitation
Our First Conference was a great success and we decided to host another conference to reconnect and continue the conversation about the issues around Kids Online.
Monday October 12, in San Francisco.
The event does not have a pre-set agenda it invites community managers, community platforms, parents, educators, and netizens together to dialogue and move the conversation forward.
At our last event we articulated a list of what we were protecting kids from and the tactics of FUN!
We had these great sessions. Including:
- The Globalization of Safety
- Children Using Adult Spaces
- Identity Tech Tools 101
- Identity Management for Kids
- Legal Issues Now & Beyond – Coppa/Task Force
- Next Steps for This Kids OnLine Community
- Filtering + Moderation/guidelines & chat filter best practices
- Economics of Moderation
- Marketing Catch-All from
We concluded with these outcomes and further questions.
If you are passionate about the issues surrounding Kids Online we invite you to join us – we imagine you might be in one of these roles but you don’t have to be.
Who this conference is for:
* Online Community/Virtual World Managers
* Policy officers and Security Officers at large companies
* Consultants in the kids online space
* Identity technologists
* State Attorney Generals
* Legislative Staffers
* Parents and Kids
* Academics in the field
* Blogger
Adult attendees of the conference are welcome to bring their children ages 10-25 to particiapte in the conversations. There will not be child care, this is about talking about the issues with the constituents we are talking about present.
More about the Format:
An unConference, “conference where the content of the sessions is driven and created by the participants, generally day-by-day during the course of the event, rather than by a single organizer, or small group of organizers, in advance.”
Beginning at 10 AM, we start with a blank wall and, in less than an hour, with a facilitator guiding the process attendees create a full day, multi-track conference agenda that is relevant and inspiring to everyone there. All are welcome to put forward presentations or propose conversations.
Kaliya Hamlin, is the facilitator and co-organizer, she is one of the leading designers and producers of unConferences for technology and professional communities.

I’m sorry I just learned about this program but it sounds great. I’m booked to be out of town, speaking on my new book, KidLead:Growing Great Leaders. I hope I can join you in the future and let us know how we can learn about the results of your event.
